Information collected for an EPC assessment

To produce an Energy Performance Certificate, information and evidence about your property is recorded. This may include:

• Property address and access details
• Client contact information (name, email, phone)
• Property measurements and floor plans sketched on site
• Photographs taken as evidence for the assessment
• Heating, insulation, glazing and building construction information
• Supporting evidence used to justify the data entered for the EPC

How it is used

Assessment information is used to carry out the survey, produce and lodge your EPC, respond to enquiries, manage your booking and payment, and to satisfy accreditation scheme requirements including quality assurance and audit. Some evidence must be retained as part of those scheme requirements, so retention periods follow the requirements applicable to EPC evidence rather than a fixed date we choose.

Who it is shared with

Your EPC is lodged to the Scottish EPC register, where certificate data is publicly available. Assessment records and evidence may be shared with the accreditation scheme for quality assurance and audit purposes, and with service providers used to operate bookings and communications.

How it is protected

Information is handled securely and in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements. Access is limited to what is needed to deliver the assessment and meet scheme obligations.
